calligraphy : an art

I for one would love to receive a letter or invitation hand written by Neither Snow. Check out their beautiful thank you notes, place cards, and moving postcards. I’m a firm believer in getting back to hand written mail, email is certainly faster and takes less time, but doesn’t it feel great to receive a piece of hand written mail?

cherry blossoms

What a great way to liven up a bare wall. Two sisters, Joanne designs and produces the decals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia while Adrina runs their etsy store from Melbourne, Australia. The easy to apply decal sets come with: 1 x hard plastic squeegee, 1 x easy-to-follow instructions, and 1 x suggested layout. We’re fond of the cherry blossoms but they have an amazing amount of interesting designs, or you can suggest a custom design. Blank Canvas Designs.

sublime treeforts

Now these are tree houses that any kid would LOVE! My husband and I were discussing where we would like to go on our next vacation. I would like to check out some of the bed and breakfasts that are available in tree houses throughout the States and Canada.  To name a couple: The Temple of the Blue Moon (left) is accessed by a swaying bridge that shakes the house when someone walks the planks. From $195, including breakfast.  Free Spirit Spheres (right, photo courtesy of Denis Beauvais) are located in Qualicum Beach, B.C., an overnight stay in a sphere is from $118 U.S. You can even buy an orb for your own backyard. How cool is that?

twig rings

I’m very fond of elements in nature. Branches. I was in Chicago over the weekend and visited the Art Institute where I came across a Linocut that grabbed my attention by Maurice Yochim. I love the grain and irregularity of wood. Today I came across these lovely rings by Barbara Polinsky, her rings and other works may be found at Barbara Michelle Jacobs (bmjnyc).

Magpies All Around

Magpies are a quirky bird. They are incredibly beautiful. Their size, patterns, and their graceful flight are quite breathtaking. When I first saw one, I thought, how absolutely cool.  On the flip side, I came to find out that they are scavengers, eating the most despicable things.  Regardless of the latter, I can’t resist them, I see them every day in the foothills. This particular limited edition print is a beautiful representation of the quirky bird.  Get your print from Badbird.  Image size is 11″ x 14″. The paper size is 13″ x 19″. Don’t hesitate, there’s only one left.
