friday at five :: laborless colada

KINGSTON COLADA

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1.5 oz Appleton Estate Reserve Rum
  • 1.5 oz Coconut water
  • 1.5 oz Pineapple juice
  • 3 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Squeeze of lime
  • Garnish: Lime wheel
  • Glass: Rocks

PREPARATION:

Add all the ingredients to a rocks glass filled with ice. Stir, and garnish with a lime wheel.

friday at five :: bacon-infused old fashion

PDT’s Bacon-Infused Old Fashioned

FOR THE BOURBON- BACON INFUSION:

  • 3 or 4 slices bacon, or enough to render 1 ounce of fat (PDT uses Benton’s, but any extra-smoky variety will do)
  • 1 750-ml. bottle of bourbon such as Four Roses Yellow Label

FOR THE OLD FASHIONED:

  • 2 ounces bacon-infused bourbon
  • 1/4 ounce Grade B maple syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Twist of orange

PREPARATION:

In mixing glass, stir 2 ounces bacon-infused bourbon, maple syrup, and bitters with ice. Strain into chilled rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with orange twist.

Sweet and Savory

Here’s to a fun evening last night, ladies … tequila tasting and a fashion show. Don Julio was one of our favorites.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 oz Don Julio Reposado Tequila
  • 7 to 8 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 4 to 5 twists Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 Lime wedge

Glass: Shot

PREPARATION

Pour the tequila into a shot glass. Stir together the bitters and pepper on a saucer until they form a paste and coat one side of the lime wedge with the mixture. Take a bite of the lime and then sip the spirit.

friday at five :: the pink valentine

Just in time for Valentine’s week.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 2 oz Plymouth Navy Strength Gin (or regular Plymouth Gin)
  • Glass: Cocktail

PREPARATION:

Add the bitters to a cocktail glass, roll to coat the inside and discard any excess. Add the gin, and fill with ice if desired.
