We are loving these vintage and new white vases. Winterling in the 60’s made exquisite porcelain vases that are available thru Glittery Moon Vintage. Don’t miss Judy Jackson’s handmade pottery — she offers an earthy spin on a round vase. Group several on a table, mantel and/or kitchen island for a clean modern statement.

back in the saddle … again

screen-shot-2017-03-03-at-2-26-02-pm
Well, we’re back after a several month hiatus from blogging and artwork. We’re currently working on a new venture. And yes, woohoo, it has to do with home decor and furnishings. Our business plan and model are shaping up, our tools and materials have arrived, we have been rolling up our sleeves and getting down to designing and creating some seriously awesome products. Next up is designing our marketing materials and scheduling a date to launch the business. There’s a whole slew of details that will happen in between, but that’s the gist of it. Meanwhile, it’s great to be back.

friday at five :: apple cider bourbon + amaretto

apple-cider
If this cocktail doesn’t say ‘Autumn is Here’ then I don’t know what does. Try this glorious mixed drink from Floating Kitchen —  Apple Cider, Bourbon and Amaretto Cocktails with Brûléed Oranges. It’s the Bru¨ˆleéd Oranges that make this beauty all the more delish.

a splash of gold :: art

Painted or foiled, there’s no resisting gold {silver or copper too}.  I use a lot of metal leaf in my artwork and will continue to do so until I run out {which isn’t anytime soon — I bought a boat load of every color, a weak and expensive moment while browsing in our local art store for a kneaded eraser}. No matter how often I see shiny metal {S-H-I-N-Y}, I’m always in awe of the many ways it can be creatively used — especially in art.

Gld Artwork 2
We’re in love with ACRYLIC CANVAS paintings. Frances Katz of BlueBerry Glitter aced this piece. A unique canvas alternative that I’ve been toying with trying. The only issue is, I would have to apply papier collé and oil without being able to see the art as it is being applied. Unless of course I had a mirror below the acrylic {it would feel like I was upside down and inside out}. A challenge worth trying. BlueBerry Glitter has this process in the bag! This piece is sold but she has a lot of artwork that is truly worth checking out.

This piece is earmarked for a fabulous new home construction here in Colorado. The owner is creating a space specifically for the artwork {super cool}.

wallpaper artwork

We’re currently working on transforming my artwork into wallpaper {I’m diggin’ the thought of it}.  This entails a lot of scale and color adjustments which are necessary for printing large scale. Not to mention {but I will}, a shift in how I create my art {somewhat frightening, but all the same, exciting}. What a fabulous way to create a bold statement in any room — the possibilities are endless. Below are just a few examples {more HERE!} that have inspired me while working on the concept:
