1 part Mango Rum
1 part pineapple juice
1 part soda water
dash of Blue Curacao
sugar for the rim

First sugar the rim of each glass by dipping the rim in either lemon or lime juice and then into sanding sugar. In a shaker with ice; combine the rum, pineapple juice and blue Curacao and shake. Pour the mixture into an ice filled glass… then fill the rest of the glass with soda water!

A new twist :: with vodka. The perfect refreshing palate cleanser.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 cups mint simple syrup, recipe follows
  • 1 cup vodka, chilled
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (from 2 to 3 large limes)
  • 1 cup club soda, chilled
  • Ice
  • Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish
  • Mint Simple Syrup:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 packed cup fresh mint leaves


PREPARATION

In a pitcher, combine the simple syrup, vodka, lime juice, and club soda. Pour into ice-filled glasses and garnish with mint sprigs.

Mint Simple Syrup:
In a small saucepan, over medium heat, combine the sugar, water, and mint leaves. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool for 20 minutes. Strain before using, pressing on the mint leaves to extract as much syrup as possible.

watermelon martini :: friday at five

ingredients:

1 cup strained sweet, fresh watermelon juice
1/2 cup good vodka
Squeeze of fresh lime juice
Ice cubes
Sugar to rim the glasses
Watermelon slices for garnish

preparation:

Sugar coat martini glass rims. A quick shake of ice, watermelon juice, vodka and fresh lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Pour into glasses. Garnish with lime slice.

At SAGE + LØVE studio, we have been all about lattes this week. So, why not finish off the week with a spiked morning cup {ahem, cocktail glass) of joe. In this little masterpiece, cherry brandy and espresso come together beautifully.

ingredients

  • 1 oz cognac
  • .75 oz kirsch
  • .75 oz cherry heering
  • .5 oz simple syrup (one part sugar, one part water)
  • .5 to 1 oz egg white
  • 1 shot (about 1 oz) freshly brewed espresso

preparation

Add all the ingredients except the espresso to a shaker and shake (without ice) until frothy. Fill with ice and add the espresso. Shake well and strain into two small cocktail glasses.

Hot chocolate + minty liqueur + whipped cream = friday at five.

  • 1.5 oz Baileys with a Hint of Mint Chocolate
  • 4 oz Hot chocolate
  • Fresh whipped cream
  • Candy canes, crushed

Garnish: Mint leaf  Glass: Coffee mug

Pour the Baileys and hot chocolate into a coffee mug. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle crushed candy cane on top. Garnish with a mint leaf. {via}

Move over tonic. Gin and cherries may be the perfect combination. But wearing cashmere with a sublime fur collar would complete the look of this fine cocktail.

  • 4 Pitted Bing cherries
  • 1 Star anise pod
  • 2 Lime wedges
  • 1 tsp Demerara sugar
  • 2.5 oz Gin
  • .5 oz Ruby port

Garnish: Cherries

Glass: Martini

In a shaker, muddle the cherries, anise, lime and sugar. Add the gin and port, and fill with ice. Shake well and double strain into a Martini glass. Garnish with cherries.
